Todd County Fiscal Court voted to authorize competitive bidding for the county jail’s food service and medical-provider contracts so the county can obtain price estimates for the upcoming budget submission.
The jail administrator reported the jail’s population and revenue for January, and said the current food-service contractor (identified as Calwell) has discussed a price increase. The jail administrator also said medical services are provided by Comprehensive Correctional Care and that while no increase has been announced, it could be prudent to bid both services together.
The administrator requested permission to advertise bids so that contract totals would be available by the court’s second March meeting and could be incorporated in the April budget. The court moved, seconded and approved the request to bid out both food and medical services.
Court action: authorized advertising for competitive bids for jail food service and medical-provider contracts; staff to return with bid estimates for budget inclusion.
