Christian County Fiscal Court approves budget items, extends personnel probation and adds voluntary rabies shots for shelter staff

Espar Peterson, sitting in for Judge Gillum, presided over the Christian County Fiscal Court as members approved a series of fund expenditures and treasury reports, amended a health-department agreement to add voluntary rabies vaccinations for full-time animal-shelter employees, and approved multiple personnel actions including a 90-day probation extension and a promotion at the county jail.

The Court voted on routine spending across several accounts, including the general fund, jail overtime, the local government (LGA) fund, and the health insurance fund. The treasurer presented cash transfers effective February 2025, budget transfers dated Feb. 11, 2025, a cash investment motion, and budgeted revenue and expense statements for the period July 1, 2024, through Feb. 28, 2025; the Court approved each item by roll call.

In new business, the Court approved an amendment to the county's agreement with the Pierce County Health Department to add rabies vaccinations to the list of vaccines provided to county employees who work at the animal shelter. Court minutes show the vaccination offer is voluntary;…
