Library reports strong circulation and details splash pad planning; summer kickoff announced

The county library reported recent circulation and attendance figures, provided an update on a splash pad utility hookup and runoff planning, and invited the public to a May 8 summer reading kickoff.
Jim Gantt, director of the Greenup County Library, told the court the library system and bookmobile recorded 13,500 visits and circulated 25,300 physical items and 15,200 digital items over the past three months.
Gantt said the library has been working on the splash pad plumbing and runoff plan. Lundy (a referenced utility/entity) agreed to provide a water tap so the library will not need holding tanks, pumps and chlorination equipment; the tap will run through the city and not be billed, Gantt said. The library is still determining whether runoff needs a dechlorination holding tank before entering wastewater or the sewer system and is working with a firm in Cleveland on the pump and equipment plans; that firm will not install outside Ohio, so local staff will handle installation.
Gantt invited the court and public to the library’s summer reading kickoff on May 8 from 6 to 8 p.m., expected to draw about 500 attendees with live music, inflatables, food, community tables, miniature golf and escape rooms.
The court received the update; no formal county action on the splash pad was recorded in the transcript.
