The Metropolitan Council Budget & Finance Committee on May 20 approved a preliminary engineering agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and CSX Transportation Inc. to facilitate replacement of an existing bridge on Eastland Avenue.
Councilmember Capp moved a housekeeping amendment requested by Metro Legal to ensure the agreement’s language reflected prior discussions with CSX and to protect the metropolitan government; the amendment did not change the substance of the agreement, Capp said. The committee approved the amendment 10-0, then approved the agreement as amended 10-0.
The amendment was described in the meeting as a non-substantive, protective update to align the agreement with earlier communications between Metro and CSX. The preliminary engineering agreement proceeds to the next procedural steps for final execution and project delivery coordination with CSX.
