MOLINE, Ill. — The Moline City Council authorized the city to borrow funds through the Illinois Public Water Supply Loan Program to enable acceptance of a $3 million pregivable award for lead service line replacements.
City staff said the program requires that the forgivable award be treated administratively as a loan, so the ordinance authorizes the city to enter the loan paperwork if the city chooses to pursue the forgivable funding. For fiscal year 2025, the city was granted $3,000,000 in pregivable funds intended to replace roughly 300 lead service lines, staff said.
The motion to authorize borrowing was moved by Alderman Schmidt and seconded by Alderman Finch; the measure passed with no recorded opposition.
