Board approves $7,000 amendment to PEG TV contract to continue filming municipal advisory councils

The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved Amendment 1 to the agreement with Lake County PEG TV to expand videography services for local advisory councils and municipal meetings.
Supervisor Sabati explained the original fiscal-year contract (FY 23–24) was for $10,000 and that, with new advisory councils added this year (including Scotts Valley and Big Valley), staff estimates an additional $7,000 will be needed to finish the year. Sabati said staff will return later with a multi-year request so the county can set an annual allotment for FY 25–26 and FY 26–27.
Staff and supervisors noted the contract increase would likely be funded from the county’s cannabis tax allocation (the board’s earlier designation of a 30% funding bucket for economic development, housing and risk reduction), which has an approximate balance of $1.5 million in that category.
Public comment included a statement from Reverend Julia Buono, who said some town halls — specifically Middletown Area Town Hall — had voted to discontinue Zoom access and she urged the board to consider restoring remote access and to ensure ADA and participation concerns are considered. County staff clarified that PEG follows the meeting organizers’ directions and that decisions about whether to use Zoom are made by the individual advisory councils or town halls.
After public comment a motion to approve Amendment 1 and authorize the chair to sign carried with no opposition recorded.
