The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved a professional services contract to fill the county’s public health officer role on an interim basis.
Health services staff said Dr. Doohan has submitted a resignation effective March 31, leaving a temporary gap in the county’s health officer coverage. Staff proposed contracting with Anju Goyal, MD, MPH, on a professional-services basis for up to six months to provide public health officer duties while the county recruits a permanent employee or secures a longer-term arrangement.
Staff described negotiated terms of $165 per hour for time worked and $10.50 per hour for on-call coverage. The contract cap is $49,860; staff said, under the expected hours, that maximum would likely be reached in roughly 12 to 15 weeks (three to four months), and staff will use the period to recruit a full-time health officer. The board was also introduced to Lisa Farrocco, the county’s new deputy director of finance and administration, who worked on the contract terms.
A supervisor moved to approve the appointment and to authorize the Health Services Director to execute the contract; the motion passed with no recorded opposition.
Staff said they will proceed with recruitment during the temporary contract and will return to the board with any further updates or proposed longer-term agreements.
