A separate request for a special‑use permit (SUP‑2024‑039) to allow a convenience store with gas pumps on the southeast corner of Mendenhall and Fox Plaza was discussed at length. Staff had recommended rejection, citing incompatibility with surrounding multifamily uses, hydrologic sensitivity identified by the Mid‑South Resilience Master Plan, and a site design that the department considered not pedestrian‑oriented. The applicant and council members discussed possible changes, and the applicant agreed to further community outreach. The committee voted to hold the gas‑station item for further review and scheduled it for the second meeting in April.
