During the council's public comment period March 18, Kimberly Denise Richards introduced The Flourishing Agency, a for‑profit entrepreneur support organization based at 4466 Elvis Presley Boulevard in Whitehaven. Richards said the agency offers staged programming — "seed, cultivate and flourish" — that teaches prospective business owners how to build a profit and loss statement, test ideas, and access mentorship.
Richards said the agency partners with community development corporations that can access funding and that her first cohort will run in April with the Binghamton Development Corporation. "Our approach is really simple," Richards said, "Sticking with the flourishing theme, I've got seed, cultivate and flourish."
Council members who heard the presentation praised the Whitehaven location, asked about youth outreach and pilot programs in local schools and offered to connect the presenter with council and community resources.
Ending: Richards said she plans a youth pilot at Haven View Middle School and asked for council help in promoting the programming to nonprofit partners and funders.
