The La Porte Historic Preservation Commission approved minutes from its Feb. 19 meeting, reviewed recent preservation activities for its Certified Local Government (CLG) report and noted a resignation that left commission seats open.
Commissioners voted to approve the Feb. 19 minutes after a motion and second; the chair said the motion carried. Earlier in the meeting members discussed compiling continuing-education records for the CLG report and asked colleagues to submit webinars, workshops or training they attended.
The commission summarized recent preservation accomplishments, including an Indiana Landmarks workshop on hazardous materials (lead paint, mold and asbestos) delivered by Paul Hayden and a roundtable presented by Saint Joseph County code enforcement on enforcing historic-preservation decisions and districts. The commission said four members attended the hazardous-materials workshop and that museum staff provided historic photographs for outreach use.
Members also announced that a commissioner (identified in email as Janice/Jean) had resigned several weeks earlier, creating at least two open slots on the commission. Commissioners reiterated that the panel can have up to seven members and asked for nominations from across neighborhoods so the commission can maintain geographic representation. The minimum expected commitment was described as one evening a month.
