Votes at a glance: council confirms appointments, approves major appropriations and passes consent agenda

The Metropolitan Council handled a large consolidated consent agenda and several notable separate votes at its March 18 meeting. Highlights:

• RS 20 25-1074 (choose how you move transportation appropriation): The council adopted a resolution appropriating $59,300,000 across Metro Transit, the Department of Information Technology Services and related accounts for the city’s Choose How You Move transportation improvement program. The resolution passed on recorded vote 32 in favor, 1 against and 1 abstention.

• Confirmations: The council approved a consolidated motion to confirm several reappointments: Tim Garnett (CA TV Special Committee), Dr. Carolyn B. Tucker (Emergency Communications District / E-911 Board) and a reappointment to NECAT (Nashville Education and Community Arts Television) announced in council as Cinnamon Brandmeier (transcript names vary). These confirmations were approved unanimously as a consolidated motion and were recognized on the floor.

• Greenway easement: On second reading the council approved two conservation-easement transactions to permit greenway improvements and awarded approvals to facilitate access and preservation in specific locations (agenda item BL 20 25-7-06). Committees recommended approval.

• Multiple zoning and development ordinances: The council passed a cluster of zoning measures either on third reading or as amended. Notable final-action items included BL 20 25-7-25 and BL 20 25-7-26 (SP and companion rules for a multi-family development at 2151 Mill Parkway), and BL 20 25-7-31 (rezoning and substitute for a Clarksville Pike site). Several of the items passed on second reading will return for final consideration on future meeting dates; others (like the appropriation and the historic-zoning and community-camera ordinances) were acted on in separate recorded votes during the meeting.
