Board awards spring street-tree planting to Dogwood Hills Tree Farm

Tucker King, identified in the meeting as the presenter for the spring planting, told the board that two bids were received — Dogwood Hills Tree Farm and Doomland Landscapes — and that Dogwood Hills' total was $50,150 compared with $60,768.35 from the other bidder. King recommended Dogwood Hills based on prior satisfactory work. "They did an amazing job," King said of the previous installation, and he noted the trees were high quality.
King said staff will notify affected homeowners of planned planting locations and provide a two-week period during which homeowners may object to a tree in front of their property; staff will use that period to find alternate planting locations if homeowners remonstrate. The board approved the motion to award the work and move forward with homeowner notification.
The approval covers ordering and placement of the identified trees; specific planting addresses and a final planting schedule will be handled by city parks/staff as coordination with homeowners proceeds.
