Greene County commissioners on the dais reviewed sealed bids for highway paving and chip-seal projects covering more than a dozen individual work items and voted to take the bid packages under advisement.
The bids were read aloud during the meeting, with individual project amounts and several vendor totals announced. A figure quoted by the chair for one set of projects was $1,312,806.75 for the listed projects; the E & B paving bid total for its package was read as $1,416,550. Other totals announced in the meeting included an Evergreen Road Works total of $406,821.18 and various per-project quotes from P & B and J.H. Rudolph & Company.
The commissioners voted to "take these goods under advisement, let Marvin check over the legalities, and allow Roger Hamble of the highway department to proceed with the projects as to the low bidder as money is available," a motion the board approved by voice vote.
The board chair thanked contractors for submitting bids and said the county will confirm legal requirements before final awards.
The motion leaves final vendor awards contingent on the county attorney’s legal review and available funds; the meeting record did not list final contract awards or definitive project start dates.
The highway department staff and county attorney will continue review and return with any recommended contracts or clarifications at a later meeting.
