Votes at a glance: Bryan council approves amphitheater donation, striping contract, plats and appointments

During its March 17 meeting the Bryan City Council approved a set of routine resolutions, ordinances and appointments. Items included acceptance of donations for the Fountain City Amphitheater, a pavement-marking contract award, funds transfers and several planning and personnel items.

Resolution accepting donations: The council approved Resolution No. 18 20 25 to accept a $1,530 package of donations for the Fountain City Amphitheater — funds the parks department said support the amphitheater’s fifth summer season. The motion to accept the donations passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.

Pavement marking contract: The council accepted a bid from Griffin Pavement Striping for the pavement marking program, approximately $138,780, and awarded the contract. Staff said the bid was roughly $3,000 higher than the previous year. The council suspended rules and approved the award on a unanimous vote.

Transfer of funds ordinance: The council approved Ordinance No. 9 20 25 providing for transfers of funds for the month ending March 31, 2025; the ordinance was suspended and adopted by unanimous roll-call vote.

Preliminary plat notification: Council received a notification that the Planning Commission recommended approval of the preliminary plat for AutoCASE Phase 4; staff said the preliminary plat was now a notification rather than a council action and that the final plat and construction plans would return for planning-commission review and then council approval if required. No separate council action was required other than noting the notification.

Resignation and appointment: The council accepted the resignation of Richard Reid from the Port Authority and appointed Joe Kimble to fill the remainder of the term, with a motion of regret and appreciation for Reid’s service; the appointment passed unanimously.

All votes recorded on the items listed above were unanimous in favor by the council members present.
