The Rowan County Board of Education approved its consent agenda at the March 17 special meeting, including a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pathways Incorporated that the board said will place Pathways staff in district buildings to work alongside students.
A board member who served in another district recommended approval, saying the arrangement gives Pathways room and access in school buildings so students do not have to travel offsite for services. “This will actually give them room and access in our building to work alongside the kids. Our kids won't have to travel outside to another place,” the board member said, and recommended the board approve the MOU.
The board moved, seconded and voted by voice to approve the consent agenda; no member voiced opposition and the motion passed. The consent agenda also included approval of previous meeting minutes and payment of monthly claims.
Motion: Approve consent agenda including MOU with Pathways Incorporated. Outcome: Approved (voice vote).
The board did not add conditions to the MOU during the meeting, and no dollar amounts tied to the MOU were discussed on the record.
