Resident praises Southview trainers after referee’s on-field medical emergency; speaker later says referee died at season end

Robert Kasperczak of Toledo used the second public-comment period at the March 17 Sylvania Board of Education meeting to publicly thank two Southview athletic trainers who responded to a medical emergency at a March 15 lacrosse game.
Kasparzyk said a referee, identified in his remarks as Alan Radlinski, suffered a seizure during the Southview-Walsh Jesuit game. Kasparzyk said the trainers responded immediately, retrieved a defibrillator (which was not used), summoned first responders and assisted until emergency medical personnel arrived. He said firefighters and an ambulance arrived on the field and transported Radlinski to Flower Hospital.
At the meeting Kasparzyk told the board he later learned Radlinski died "on the last day of the season." Dr. Motley thanked Kasparzyk for bringing the account to the board and said she would find the trainers to convey the board’s gratitude.
Kasparzyk recommended the district post the trainers’ names or photos on the district website so the community can formally recognize their response. Board members thanked him for attending and for sharing the account.
The remarks were delivered during the meeting’s public-comment period and did not prompt any formal board action during the session.
