Council approves ERA declaratory resolution for Aerotomic expansion, schedules April 21 public hearing

The Franklin City Council on March 17 approved a declaratory resolution to create an Economic Revitalization Area (ERA) for Aerotomic and authorized publication of a confirmatory public hearing on April 21 to consider tax abatement terms related to the company's planned expansion.
Community Development Specialist Dana Monson told the council Aerotomic (also referenced in the meeting as Sargeant Aerospace) has been in Franklin for about 15 years and occupies a 30,000-square-foot facility built in 2019. Monson said the company currently employs roughly 60 people and “are anticipating adding another 40 to have a hundred employees and running multiple shifts.”
Monson said the property that Aerotomic proposes to add to the ERA currently lacks ERA designation and that state statute requires the declaratory step. She asked the council to approve the declaratory resolution and permit advertising a public hearing on April 21. Council moved and seconded the action; the motion carried by voice vote.
Monson said the company presented plans and economic details to the Economic Development Commission, which recommended moving forward. The April 21 public hearing will address confirmatory ERA designation and the specific abatement years and investment amounts.
