The Village Board authorized staff to prepare and submit materials to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to evaluate a curb extension at the northeast corner of East Capitol Drive and North Morris Boulevard.
Leanne, the director of public works, said Strand (the village engineer) would reuse recent turning‑movement analyses and prepare drawings for WisDOT review; staff estimated Strand could complete the drawings quickly and that WisDOT’s review might take about two weeks depending on workload. The board discussed funding for the work and how to pay the engineering fee from the public works engineering operating budget.
Trustee Ersing moved the staff direction to proceed and Trustee Kudo seconded. At the vote the motion carried with one trustee abstaining; no formal construction decision was made. If WisDOT approves the concept the village will return to trustees with detailed design, costs and a construction plan.
Staff said the Strand scope would include the necessary analysis for submittal and the village would draw funds from the DPW engineering operating budget to pay the contract for the drawings.
