Shorewood conservation committee wins foundation grant to fund recycling tear‑out in Shorewood Today

Julia Eli, a volunteer on the conservation committee, told the committee volunteers had heard repeated community questions about recycling contamination and proposed a half‑sheet tear‑out to be printed in the summer issue of Shorewood Today and distributed to about 8,000 addresses. The committee obtained a one‑time grant from the Shorewood Foundation to pay for printing; staff confirmed the Foundation would hold and administer the rebate funds and the conservation volunteers would manage program administration.
Committee and board members praised the volunteer‑led effort and moved to recommend that staff host the program information on the village website while volunteers handle applications and program questions. The Village Board later accepted the one‑time donation to cover printing, approximately $1,136, and approved the staff/volunteer roles outlined by the committee.
Staff said the insert will be printed as a rip‑out for residents to keep on refrigerators or bulletin boards and will link to more detailed online guidance. Volunteers and staff will coordinate messaging and distribution prior to the summer issue’s publication.
