Council approves tourism service contract after Chamber reports expanded grant use and visitor activity

Francine said the chamber and city revised the hotel-occupancy grant process to accept applications in January and award funds timed to events’ schedules; in the past year the chamber issued 15 grants across categories including marketing, event advertising, arts promotion and sporting-event support. Francine said the funding helped produce hotel stays and restaurant activity: “We estimate from that that we have 5,252 hundred nights hotel stays and … almost 36,000 meals,” she told the council (as reported).
The chamber covers utilities and insurance for the visitor center from hotel-occupancy revenue and works with city staff to ensure funds are used in accord with state and local rules. Francine said several new applicants applied this year, including rodeo events and the returning BoomTown Comic Con, and she invited council members to the chamber gala later in the month.
Action: The council approved the chamber’s annual tourism budget and a new tourism-service contract for April 2025–March 2026.
