Smart Financial Center reports $24 million in ticket sales, projects rebound in 2025

Elise Scully, general manager of the Smart Financial Center, told the Sugar Land City Council that the venue held 109 performances in 2024, drew more than 300,000 attendees and generated about $24,000,000 in ticket sales.
Scully said 2024 results were down modestly from 2023 but roughly in line with pre-pandemic years and attributed the decline to a softer touring year and a major election cycle. "We expect 2025 to rebound quite well," she said, and listed artists already confirmed for the coming year, including Tina Fey and John Legend.
The annual report highlighted a newly renovated Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land Lounge completed in July 2024 at a reported $720,000 capital expense by ATG Entertainment; the space adds made-to-order food service, expanded seating for suite holders and an option for general-ticket buyers to add a lounge upgrade. Scully also described the lounge as rentable for private events on non-event nights.
The presentation noted that about 20 percent of ticket buyers come from surrounding cities, with the remaining 80 percent traveling from outside the immediate area. The venue's top performers in 2024 included Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld and Barry Manilow; comedy accounted for several of the top draws, Scully said.
Scully described community work in 2024: donations to local music educators tied to Barry Manilow's appearance, continued support for Sugar Land Arts Fest with four additional murals installed inside the venue, use of the center as a cooling center serving approximately 1,000 people, and more than $10,000 in ticket donations to local charities. She also announced leadership changes at ATG Entertainment: Lori Hotz as CEO of ATG, Rainier Connors as vice president of regional venues, and JT Silva as deputy general manager for the Smart Financial Center.
Council members praised the venue's financial contributions to city revenue and tourism. One council member noted that ticket sales generate sales tax that benefits the city budget.
Scully said the venue had sold over 770,000 tickets since she joined in 2022 and that the center was ranked No. 25 worldwide by Pollstar. She told the council this was her last meeting as general manager and thanked the council for its support.
Looking ahead, Scully provided a 2025 projection of about 127 total events and roughly 370,000 attendees if confirmation rates hold; she said 62 events were confirmed at the time of the presentation.
