The Longview School District Board approved a contract on Feb. 24 to award Phase 3 of the Memorial Stadium modernization to JH Kelly LLC, the lowest qualified bidder, district staff said.
Patty (district staff) told the board the work is part of the district’s voter‑approved April 2022 capital projects and technology levy and that the competitive bid process produced nine bids. The motion before the board was to award the contract to JH Kelly LLC in the amount of $1,906,547 plus Washington state and local sales tax.
A board member moved to approve the contract and the motion was seconded. Board members voting ‘‘aye’’ signaled approval and the chair announced the motion passed. No opposing votes or abstentions were recorded in the public meeting transcript.
District staff said the award is within the project budget and will allow the modernization work to proceed on schedule this summer. The board discussed the number of bidders and the favorable result; one director noted that the bid outcome was positive given recent volatility in construction markets.
The board did not take additional action on other capital items at the meeting. The contract award authorizes staff to move forward with project scheduling and procurement under the terms presented to the board.
