Providers and academics press for higher rates for applied behavior analysis

Kristin Cobavert testified on behalf of Bayada (listed in the transcript as Bayada) and said the organization stands on its written testimony supporting increased provider rates for applied behavior analysis for children with autism.
"We stand in support of our written testimonies supporting increased provider rates for applied behavior analysis for children with autism," Cobavert said.
Doctor Maria Cholich, speaking for the Hawaii Association for Behavior Analysis and identifying herself as an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an ABA provider, said stable funding is necessary to sustain services. "I'm certain that without stable funding, many children with autism risk being deprived of evidence based support that can really improve their quality of life," Cholich said.
The request was offered as public testimony during the committee’s budget hearing; the committee recorded written support from multiple provider organizations and advocacy groups but reserved decision making for a later session.
