Committee narrows furniture plan, will inventory existing pieces before moves

The Washington County Building Committee reviewed proposed furniture standards and a plan to inventory and reuse existing county furniture during the move into the new government center. Committee members emphasized the need to dimension existing cubicles and confirm that required furniture will fit in tighter new office footprints.
Scott (staff member) said the team intends to work with vendors to measure existing desks, conference tables and cubicles and identify used pieces that can be redeployed. He told the committee the county’s vendor is holding some used furniture aside and that the project will aim to reuse serviceable pieces where they meet functional and ADA needs.
Committee members asked about ergonomics, sit‑stand desk options and a replacement schedule for chairs. Supervisor Gallatin and Supervisor Schwab raised the importance of standardizing on a county workstation where possible and ensuring accessibility for staff who will occupy smaller offices than they have now. The committee noted several departments moving from the PAC and discussed whether those departments can bring existing furniture or will need different configurations.
Scott said the county will inventory furniture dimensions and condition, involve furniture vendors to measure and fit pieces into the detailed plan, and reserve some budget for new furniture only where existing items cannot be reused.
The committee did not take a formal vote on purchases; staff will return with an inventory, vendor measurements and recommendations on when new purchases are necessary.
