Effingham County Board approves consent agenda, declines Chamber contribution and reassigns small capital funds

Pulled and referred items: Board member Doug McCain asked to pull the local agency agreement for federal participation (BLR0531OC South Altamont Resurfacing) because the Illinois Department of Transportation had not completed its review; the board voted to refer that item back to the Road & Bridge Committee.
Chamber of Commerce contribution: The board discussed a request from the Effingham Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the Chamber’s Career Fair at various contribution levels. Board members noted the county already contributes to other Chamber initiatives (capital/catalyst level and manufacturing-day events) but questioned whether the county would staff a booth or whether hotel‑motel or economic-development funds were the appropriate source. Jeremy Daters moved that the county not contribute to the Chamber Career Fair this year; Sandy Rich seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
Small capital reallocation and stairwell painting: The board approved reallocating the remaining $424.69 from the ADA door capital-improvement line to Painting of stairwells and handrails (county building). The board then approved the project for materials-only work, to be performed using county labor. The reallocation motion passed on roll call; the painting approval passed by voice vote.
