Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick presents $1 million for supportive housing at Coleman Park

"This check is $1,000,000 to deliver to West Palm Beach. It will be used for developing an affordable rental housing right here in Coleman Park," the congresswoman said during the presentation.
Project details provided at the meeting: the funding will support development on a 1.5-acre Coleman Park site that city staff and the congresswoman said can accommodate up to 18 supportive housing units. The units are intended for families at risk of homelessness or households working to regain housing stability; the congresswoman described the project as "a beacon of hope" for residents priced out of South Florida's housing market.
Mayor James thanked the congresswoman at the dais and recognized the award as a local federal investment in housing; no commission action was required for the presentation itself.
Next steps: project design, permitting and selection of implementing partners will follow city procedures and any project-specific funding or land-use approvals. The city said staff will incorporate the award into planning for Coleman Park and coordinate next steps with the congresswoman's office and local partners.
