Commissioners approve five-year managed-services contract with ISG and separate cloud-backup service

The Miami County Board of Commissioners on March 5 approved a five-year managed-services agreement with ISG Technology and a separate managed cloud-backup service.

County Commissioner Shane Crowell presented the contracts. Crowell said the managed-services agreement would cover network services, server and storage management and perimeter security for a contractual total of $4,738.38 (figure read during the meeting). The cloud-backup agreement was listed at $1,898.16. The managed-services contract includes a five-year term, a 90-day termination clause for either party and an allowance for ISG to increase costs by up to 5% year over year.

Crowell said the county has worked with ISG since February 2009 and that the recent passing of the county IT director motivated consideration of a vendor-provided service in lieu of an in-house director. He answered a question comparing vendor costs to an employee with benefits, saying an employee “in excess of a hundred and $20,000 when you put benefits into the equation” and adding that another comparison figure was “roughly about $80,000 on an annual basis.” The board approved both agreements unanimously.

"We've had a relationship with ISG since 02/2009," Crowell said, listing past network upgrades and security work the company performed. "This relationship with ISG would be basically a vendor service in lieu of an in house IT director."
