McPherson County signs neighborhood revitalization interlocal agreement with Mount Ridge

The McPherson County Board of Commissioners approved Feb. 24 an interlocal agreement to participate in Mount Ridge’s Neighborhood Revitalization program and authorized county signatures on the five-year plan.
Mount Ridge city administrator Jeremy Johnson told the board the effort—first presented in 2021 and delayed at the Attorney General’s Office—had restarted and sought county approval of the interlocal agreement. He said the Attorney General previously did not return the earlier version during the COVID period; there was no substantive objection from the county board during the Feb. 24 discussion.
A commissioner moved to approve county signatures on the neighborhood revitalization interlocal agreement and the motion passed with unanimous recorded votes. Johnson said he expects new development on the north end of Mount Ridge and described the plan as intended to encourage downtown and uptown housing development.
The minutes show the board signature was approved and the administrator said the signed agreement will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for final processing.
