Developer says missing stop‑sign bars and hydrant pop‑outs at Summerwind Trails will be completed by July 4

A developer representative told the Calimesa City Council on March 17 that outstanding street‑marking and sidewalk items at the Summerwind Trails subdivision would be corrected and that the developer aims to finish remaining work by July 4.

Paul Onifer, speaking for Gens SoCal 1 (owner of Summerwind Trails), said staff had identified incomplete work in Phase 1, specifically sidewalk pop‑outs around fire hydrants that were missed by the builder and a question about whether to install stop‑sign bars on local streets. He said the project’s street and signage plans were prepared to Riverside County standards, which do not require painted stop‑sign bars on local streets because the county does not want to maintain them. Onifer said the developer is willing to install stop‑sign bars if the city desires but noted the additional maintenance burden.

“We were out there Friday and today, just making sure that we know exactly what needs to be done. We're gonna be going out to bid, and we hope to have everything completed by July 4,” Onifer told the council.

Council response: Councilmembers thanked the developer for addressing the concerns and asked staff to continue coordinating inspections and bids. No formal vote or action was required; the report was accepted as an informational update.
