Solanco Education Foundation and district recognize support staff and students of the month

The Solanco Education Foundation and the Solanco School District recognized support staff and students at the March 17 board meeting.

Foundation representative (identified in the transcript as Mrs. Oso) presented newly created support staff recognition awards. The foundation honored three employees: Laurel Beam, a high school staff member who has worked at the high school 11 years and is frequently visible in hallways and cafeterias; Nancy Beza, a paraeducator who supports life‑skills students at Craleyville Elementary (unable to attend the meeting); and Peg Huber, the Swift Middle School secretary who manages front‑office logistics and visitor access. The board also recognized secondary students of the month. The meeting named Dylan Barker from the high school (nominated for academic diligence and accepted to Lancaster Career and Technical Center’s introduction to transportation careers program), Brycie Miller, and Emma Gilman (an eighth grader praised for straight A’s and extracurricular participation). Students received certificates, a portfolio copy of their nomination letter and a gift certificate; the board invited students to have photos taken for the district website and newspaper.

These recognitions were ceremonial; no board action or funding decisions were associated with them during the meeting.
