The county estimated local jail‑related medical spending in the coming year will be in the range of about $1.2 million (county and jail combined), but staff described that figure as an operational estimate.
Staff said the annual jail budget submission is preliminary and will be reviewed with the jailer and chief deputy during the formal county budget sessions. Capital requests, personnel needs and potential seasonal maintenance hires were discussed; staff said the contract with the food vendor produced no price increase for the coming year.
No appropriation or ordinance was enacted at the briefing; the court received the submission and will consider the jail budget during upcoming budget sessions and ordinances.
