City council appoints three to Local Board of Review

Bloomington City Council voted unanimously Monday to appoint Andrew Robinson, Jason Oliver and Marge Bates to the city’s Local Board of Review.
The appointments, moved and seconded during the March 17 meeting, cover staggered terms: Robinson and Oliver to terms ending June 30, 2027, and Bates to a term ending June 30, 2026. The council noted the annual Local Board of Review meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2025.
City staff said recruiting for the board has been difficult because the board requires real-estate experience; the application was left open until filled for about six months and recently yielded enough applicants to fill three openings. City Assessor Tim Bulger reviewed eligibility for applicants and provided recommendations; Emily Larson, the staff member who manages board appointments, prepared a memo with the recommendations that was included in the council packet.
The motion to approve the appointments carried 6-0.
The council thanked the new appointees for their service; the mayor asked staff to notify the appointees and provide next-step information about orientation and annual meeting details.
