Residents urge Detroit council to pass police video release ordinance for transparency

She asked that body-worn camera footage of use-of-force incidents be posted to a centralized, publicly accessible website so residents can see what occurs when officers use force.
Camille said other cities release such footage and that Detroiters deserve the same access. She did not identify a sponsor or specific ordinance language at the meeting; the request was presented as a community petition for council action.
The council did not take up or vote on an ordinance that night; Camille and other advocates asked council members to move the measure forward for formal consideration and to provide a public process for draft language and implementation details.
