Georgetown council approves addendum clarifying Oaks developer, work hours

Georgetown’s Town Council voted unanimously Jan. 27 to adopt an addendum to the town’s public works agreement for the Oaks development that clarifies which entities are bound by the contract and changes allowable construction hours.

The addendum to Public Works Agreement 2024-03 names US Home (a Lennar subsidiary) and a land‑bank entity identified in the draft as Dominion in addition to Jack Lingo Asset Management and GT Oaks LLC, and revises the project’s hours of work to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except town holidays. The motion passed on a 5-0 voice vote.

Town Manager Jean DeMortic told the council the changes ensure there is no ambiguity about who the developer is. “So that guarantees to the town who the developer is and there's no ambiguity,” DeMortic said while outlining the three sections covered by the addendum.

The addendum also updates Article 10 on successors and assignments to extend binding language to the newly named entities. Town Attorney Lester told the council he worked with the developer’s attorney to arrive at mutually agreeable language.

Council members offered no further comment before the motion was moved, seconded and approved. The council record shows the vote as five in favor, none opposed.

The addendum was presented during the public works agreement agenda item; no additional conditions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes. The council did not set new dates for construction milestones during the discussion.

Ending: The approved addendum will be incorporated into the town’s public works agreement file for the Oaks project; the council moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
