Dickson County commission approves budget transfer, purchasing-policy change, rezoning, two emergency grants, speed limit and notary appointments

By voice vote the commission approved a budget amendment moving $100,000 from the general fund into the grant fund to complete the fiscal year for Tennessee City Pond and the Van Leer Water and Water Authority in Dickson County. Motion by Commissioner McElwade; second by Commissioner Beatty.
The commission approved an amendment to the county's purchasing policy to add language required to participate in federal funding programs. Mr. Hall delivered the proposed language to commissioners the prior week. Motion by Commissioner Bridal; second by Commissioner McElwain.
A final rezone request for Paul Lovell passed. The rezone covered approximately 5 acres on Highway 49 East in Charlotte, described in the record as tax map 40, partial 44-07, and sought a change from A-1 (agriculture) to C-1 (rural center) in the fourth district. Motion by Commissioner Ledger; second by Commissioner McElwein.
The commission accepted two grants to expand emergency-response capabilities: a $31,500 award through the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance and a separate $19,481.46 award through the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. The commission set the speed limit on a public road known as Johnny Hall Road at 30 miles per hour following a recommendation from the sheriff's department. Motion by Commissioner Gray; second by Commissioner Petty.
The commission also approved a set of notary commissions (list recorded in the meeting). Motion by Commissioner Patty; second by Commissioner Simpkins.
