On March 5, 2025, the House Business Committee voted to send Senate Bill 10-43 to the House floor with a due-pass recommendation. Representative Megan Egbert (District 17) presented the bill, which reorganizes statute sections and removes an obsolete 1881 reference to 'coveture' (coverture).
Egbert told the committee the bill is primarily a code reorganization and that the only substantive change is excising the single historical reference to coverture — a term from property law history that treated married women as legally subsumed to a husband's rights. She said the Legislative Services Office confirmed the reference as the last in Idaho code and that no new rights or obligations are created by the reorganization.
No public testimony was offered and members moved the bill to the floor with a due-pass recommendation by voice vote.
The motion to send SB 10-43 to the floor carried with no recorded opposition during the committee session; the committee did not record further amendments.
