Harrisburg — The House State Government Committee on March 17 voted to report House Resolution 86, designating March 17, 2025, as Bayard Rustin Day in Pennsylvania.
Representative Carroll, the resolution sponsor, told the committee Bayard Rustin is a Pennsylvanian from Westchester and “has never been recognized by his home state, for his contribution to this country.” She said Rustin was “the architect of the 1963 March on Washington” and asked for committee support to uplift his legacy.
Committee members moved to consider and then took a roll call vote. The motion passed. The resolution will be reported from the House State Government Committee to the full House.
