The Needles City Council voted to appoint Patrick McCaffrey to the housing commission’s tenant seat, with a term set to expire Dec. 31, 2028.
City Manager (unnamed) told the council the authority had difficulty filling the vacancy and that McCaffrey met the two requirements for the seat—age and current residency with the housing authority. The manager noted McCaffrey’s roughly 30 years of municipal experience in another city.
McCaffrey spoke briefly about his background and willingness to serve. Council members moved and seconded a motion to approve and then recorded a roll-call vote with all members voting in the affirmative.
Council and staff congratulated McCaffrey and said he would begin attending the housing commission as scheduled.
