City economic development staff asked the City Commission on March 5 to appoint two commissioner “champions” to work with staff, property owners and partner jurisdictions on the Thimble (Thimble/Trimble) Creek industrial land‑readiness strategic plan. The plan, funded in part by a Metro grant, aims to inventory industrial sites and identify public/private actions to improve site readiness for industrial development.
James Graham, economic development manager, said the work has been ongoing for several years and asked the commission to appoint two members to act as liaisons to property owners, refine alternatives, and help draft a resolution to adopt the strategic plan in spring 2025.

Commissioner Mike Mitchell and Mayor Denise McGriff volunteered to serve as the commission’s champions for the project. Staff said the champions will help coordinate outreach to major property owners, develop policy options and help identify potential funding and public‑private partnership approaches before staff returns with a draft resolution for adoption.
