An insurance trust representative told the Edgefield County Council on March 4, 2025, that Edgefield had the lowest workers’ compensation experience modifier among the trust’s 42 member counties, reporting an experience modifier of 0.66 and saying the county was about 34% below expected loss levels.
Robert, representing the county’s workers’ compensation trust, said the low experience modifier reflects fewer employee claims and better risk management. He told the council that the low modifier saved taxpayers an estimated $140,000 in premiums this year and praised county staff and council, singling out Leanne (the county risk manager) for her work on the county’s safety culture. The representative presented an award to the county and invited council and staff to a photo at the podium.
Earlier in the meeting the council recognized Lakeisha Goss as employee of the quarter based on a staff nomination. The nomination letter, read aloud, described Goss as “a fantastic associate” and an advocate for veterans, credited her with carrying extra work during a transition period and said her work led to “remarkable success” for the office. The nominator signed as Daniel D. Tager. Council invited Goss forward for a photograph and congratulated her.
No formal council action or votes were required for the award presentation or employee recognition.
