Council approves land-use and zoning changes for 70.16-acre Penrod Road parcel

The Pinetop-Lakeside Town Council unanimously approved a major amendment to the town’s 2015 general plan land-use element and a companion zoning ordinance to reclassify roughly 70.16 acres on the east side of South Penrod Road to a heavy commercial/business park designation and C2 zoning.

The amendment and zoning change stem from a recent land-exchange and annexation of the parcel from the City of Show Low. Jeremiah, a town planning staff member, told the council the change met the town’s major-amendment threshold “defined as 50 or more acres” and said the annexation previously went to the Board of Supervisors in October.
