The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners appointed Barry Clymer to a two‑year term on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board during its Aug. 4 meeting.

Clymer, a longtime county resident who described 30 years in the community and 25 years coaching baseball at county parks, introduced himself during the board’s appointment discussion and said he wants to improve parks for children and families. Another applicant, Delana (Delaney/Delaina in transcript) Gallery, also spoke about community outreach and work with youth programming; applicant Terry Poindexter had introduced herself earlier.

Board members cast votes; the clerk read the vote tally into the record: Commissioner Richardson and Chair Danson voted for Barry Clymer; Commissioner Carney voted for Delana Gallery; Commissioner Hansen voted for Phil McClure (an applicant referenced in the record). The clerk said that resulted in two votes for Barry Clymer and he was declared appointed. The board thanked all applicants and encouraged them to watch the county website for future openings.

The appointment was made without contest and will be posted with term details by county staff.
