The Virginia State Board of Elections certified the results of the Sept. 9, 2025 special election for Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, which covers Fairfax City and Fairfax County. Department of Elections staff reported they had reviewed abstracts of votes submitted by local registrars, compared the abstracts to election‑night reporting software output, ran turnout and voting‑credit reports and asked localities to resolve any discrepancies.
Department staff recommended certification after completing those validation steps. The board approved the certificate of election and members were instructed to sign the paperwork to complete that item on the agenda.
