The City of Joliet’s Public Assets Committee reviewed and recommended several facility and streetscape projects that the full council approved Sept. 2 as part of the consent agenda.
Committee members said the City Hall exterior painting project is scheduled as routine maintenance (painted about every 10 years) and includes power washing, two coats of paint in the same colors, replacement of 12 light poles around City Hall, decorative fencing and a power box. The committee reported unanimous approval to move the project forward; council later approved payment to Cosgrove Construction Inc. for $61,375 (council memo 457‑25).
The committee also advanced a generator replacement at the Joliet Police Department West Substation, which staff described as needed because the existing generator is more than 30 years old; council approved Elliott Electric Inc. for installation at $63,182 (council memo 458‑25). A rooftop fire‑suppression piping replacement at the Joliet Area Historical Museum (original piping from 2002, multiple leaks) was approved for AMS Industries, Inc. at $55,500 (council memo 459‑25).
Separately, the Route 66 Broadway Greenway improvement project — sidewalk and seating improvements including ADA accessibility from the parking lot to an ice cream shop — was awarded to PT Ferro Construction Company for $63,065 and will use Heritage Corridor grant funds and CBDC funds (council memo 456‑25).
Committee members also noted community events at the Joliet Area Historical Museum and a Miracle League fall session beginning Sept. 6. All committee‑recommended items listed above were approved on the consent agenda.
