Evanston staff outline 2025 bike-plan update, cite $7.4 million in recent grants

Chris Souce, the city's assistant city engineer, told the City Council on Sept. 8 that staff plans to publish a revised bike plan next spring after community engagement and corridor analysis. "Our last bike plan update was 2014," Souce said. "Now is our job to come up with new ones and maybe address some of the reasons why we couldn't fulfill some of those other proposals." He said the city has secured roughly $4.4 million for Church Street projects (about $3 million from ITEP and $1.4 million from CMAP) and just over $13 million in grants for the Chicago Avenue multimodal corridor (about $3 million from ITEP and more than $10 million from CMAQ).
