Committee approves two appointments to African American Heritage Advisory Board

Aurora — The Rules, Administration and Procedure Committee approved two mayoral appointments to the African American Heritage Advisory Board on Aug. 19.

Nicholas Rouchard Thompson, deputy chief of staff in the mayor’s office, told the committee that the two nominees met with the board chair, Curtis Wilson, and that the board had recommended them. Thompson said he knows both nominees through community work and business ownership and that the mayor’s office supported the appointments. “They met with the chair of the African American Heritage Advisory Board, Curtis Wilson, and the board had decided to go forward with it,” Thompson said.
Latanya Ramey was present at the meeting and introduced herself; she said she owns JJ and Mimi’s Custom Meals on Wheels and lives in Ward 7. The committee approved the appointments by voice vote.
