The Aurora Finance Committee on Aug. 28 approved acceptance of a $34,420 FY‑26 Violent Crime Intelligence Task Force grant to support police intelligence work. The committee vote was unanimous.
Lieutenant Tom McNamara, administrative services, told the committee the grant is a state reimbursement award and that the department has participated in the program for four consecutive years. He said city legal and department staff discovered a single wording change made by the state after the packet was published: on page five the state changed the word “individual” to “governmental unit.” McNamara said city legal had reviewed the change and staff would upload the corrected document to Legistar before the Council of the Whole meeting next week.
