Committee approves on‑site annual physicals and cancer screening vendor for firefighters

The Aurora Finance Committee on Aug. 28 unanimously approved continuing on‑site annual physical examinations for firefighters and adding a full cancer screening this year through Site Med.
LaDonna Carr, director of training and development, said the on‑site exams have been provided for three years “and it was agreed upon by Local 99 and the Aurora Fire Officers Association that we would have them on‑site.” She told the committee the number of firefighters using on‑site physicals has increased and that Site Med provides the required annual physical and, on alternating years, chest X‑rays; this year the vendor will provide a full cancer screening for firefighters.
Deputy Chief Kevin Nicholl attended with Carr to discuss clinical and operational needs. The committee approved the item 5‑0. Motion: by Carl Franco; second: Keith Larson. Outcome: approved.
