Board favors consortium approach, not criminalization, to address unhoused residents

President Tonali said the initiative is not a traditional village-appointed task force but a consortium coordinated by the village manager with participation from Palatine, Mount Prospect and other neighboring communities and health department staff; he said Manager Reklaus is already working on the effort. The board emphasized that solutions should avoid criminalization and focus on services and safety. Residents asked for timelines and for public forums; the board said staff will coordinate stakeholder engagement and that further details will be provided as the consortium is organized.
