Aldermen approve purchase of Getac mobile data terminals after distributor change

The Grandview Board of Aldermen on July 8 approved an ordinance authorizing payment to Public Safety Solutions MO LLC for Getac mobile data terminals and docking stations used by the police department.
Councilors enacted Bill No. 7856 at final passage, recorded as Ordinance No. 7594. The bill authorizes payment related to Getac mobile data terminals and Havis docking stations for public-safety vehicles.
Captain Rogers explained to the board that the city had previously approved the equipment in April with a specific distributor; that distributor later became unaffiliated with the Getac parent company. "They identified a new distributor, which is Public Safety Solutions out of Springfield. And they've provided us the exact same pricing, same specifications as the previous [distributor]," Captain Rogers said during the meeting. Because the original ordinance named a specific company, staff said a new ordinance was required to authorize the city to enter into agreement with the newly identified distributor.
Aldermen placed the bill on readings and voted to enact it; final roll calls recorded affirmative votes from Turnbaugh, Kendrick, Maloney, Rousey, Jones and Randolph. The ordinance authorizes staff to proceed with payment and procurement as described. The meeting record did not list the purchase price or contract term.
